About the Bihar ASO exam
Assistant Section Officer (ASO) posts are an important entry point into administrative work in Bihar government departments. In the recent recruitment (Advt. 37/2025) the process had a Preliminary and a Main (objective) stage with General Knowledge and General Hindi papers. Stages and pattern can change, so always follow the latest official notice. In general, these exams test general awareness, reasoning, maths and language skills.
Syllabus areas to prepare
- General awareness: Bihar and India GK, polity, history, geography and current affairs.
- Quantitative aptitude: percentage, ratio, profit and loss, time and work, average.
- Reasoning: series, coding-decoding, analogy, blood relations, directions.
- Language: Hindi grammar, vocabulary and comprehension; basic English.
- Computer awareness: basics of MS Office and the internet, if mentioned in the notice.
How to prepare
- Build a daily habit of 30 minutes each for maths and reasoning.
- Read Bihar special notes and revise facts weekly.
- Practise with ASO PYQs and quizzes.
- Use the percentage calculator to check your maths practice.
